Cruising around Annapolis Harbour

Today we met up with my friend Kiki, who lives near Annapolis and headed into downtown Annapolis to have a look at the sights - our aim was (weather permitting) to take a harbour cruise, and despite a rather dire start to the day, by the time we got there, it was looking pretty good.

The larger harbour tour boat wasn't running, but we did the smaller Spa Creek Tour, which was great. The boat only had about fifteen people on it, so it was quite personal and the captain let all of the kids (my three and two others) have a turn at steering, which they all enjoyed.

We saw various sights, like St Mary's Church, the Naval Academy,

and glimpses of the Capitol Building and the Bay Bridge.

Plus there were several herons out fishing (and some cormorants & a buzzard of some sort, as well as the more predictable ducks and seagulls)

and lots of kids - many of them quite young - out in sailboats and on sailboards. I'm thinking sailing camp!

Great photo of two of mine - for once, no silly face on Alex and Sarah actually let me take the photo!

And then back on land, there was ice cream. Of course!
