Getting very "fooky"

Pumpkin carving day today - and I always forget how difficult it is to photograph jack-o-lanterns when they are lit (which is much more interesting than otherwise). Anyway, here we have a "fider" (Mummy's pumpkin), a ghost (Sarah's, with a little help on the fiddly bits), a traditional face (Alex's, with help from Mummy and Sarah) and Olivia's - a hybrid of the traditional face type and a funkier type - so that it's eyes and the word "boo".

And here they are outside, waiting for it to be dark, so they can show off...

Very impressive! My most enthusiastic carver is in Seattle where hopefully he won't sustain as many cuts as last year.

We're doing a pumpkin in our pre-school tomorrow and then I'll be doing one with the kids. It's a little bit of home tradition!! My husband (British through and through) doesn't get the sense in buying something, carving it up and then throwing it into the composter!! But then I don't get Bonfire night so we just call it quits :o)

Great imaginations and excellent carving. We live too far out in the country to get anyone to come by and see our pumpkins. The first year we lived her we bought some bubble gum just in case we had any trick or treaters (we live in Northern California). We still have the bag of bubble gum (the gum is now hard as a rock and a dentist's dream treat) and our record of little visitors is still 0. Have fun.
