John Boyne is probably most famous for The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas. This one is not as serious and heavy as that one (what is?) though it does deal with some quite serious issues. I read it to check suitability for my class and it's definitely going in the Mrs North Recommends basket. A lovely story.
