Barbon Fells and Kirkby Lonsdale

Yesterday, we went for a picnic at the Barbon Fells - the weather wasn't quite as nice as the day before, but it wasn't too cold, just a little chilly, and it didn't rain, so we are still doing well!   This was the view from our picnic spot.

Here we are, picnicking...

After lunch, the men and boys went off climbing up the fell - you can see Alex  a little ways up, in a yellow jumper - and the women and girls stayed on the level, chatting, doing a little sewing and trying to get the baby to have a lovely sleep.

A bit later, we drove into nearby Kirkby Lonsdale, a lovely scenic town, with some great shops - we didn't go in many shops, partly because we were a little tired, but also, we did have men and boys with us so...

We did, however, have a browse around the town and a look at Ruskin's View, a very scenic view, which the Victorian art critic John Ruskin proclaimed to be the best in the country (in a painterly sense, I suppose). Turner has painted it, from a slightly different angle than my photo...

As usual, more photos can be seen in my flickr album.
